NFL Betting – How to Approach Futures Betting

The best online sportsbook will give players the option to get involved in futures betting. An NFL futures bet is when you bet that a team will go all the way to the Super Bowl in the preseason. What makes futures betting fun is that the bets can linger for months and help to make the season more interesting. What dampens the fun for some bettors is the completely unpredictable nature of the NFL.

Unlike March Madness betting, NFL futures betting can go on for four or five months before the conclusion is reached. The worst thing a bettor can do is use emotion to bet on a team. The Green Bay Packers fans that were so confident that the team would repeat as Super Bowl champions in 2011 seemed to be on the right track when the Packers finished the regular season at 15-1. But the Packers’ defense was an issue all season and it wound up costing the Packers in its divisional playoff loss to the New York Giants.

Futures can seem like a bet online scam, but they do offer a chance for good bettors to make money. For example, the New England Patriots are a strong favorite to win the AFC East again in 2012. That futures bet can be a quick way for anyone to make a little profit. Before you place your futures bet, allow teams to go through the preseason and pare down the rosters to its 53-man squad. The teams that have addressed needs may be a good bet while teams that have remained stagnant may not live up to expectations.

NFL Betting – 2013 Future Bets Could Be Very Valuable In Certain Areas

As time expired in Super Bowl 46, and Eli Manning was named the Super Bowl MVP for the champion New York Giants, a ton of future bets came to fruition and all of those that had wagered on Manning, the Giants, and all of the successful prop bets around the game were ready to cash in. While those bets finally came to light, a whole new set of prop bets were established for next year, and already most of the sites on the sportsbook reviews are ready to release their 2013 future bets if they haven’t already. With the NFL draft right around the corner already and so much change that is sure to happen through free agency, it is hard to handicap next season so early on, but it is not impossible.

The New England Patriots should be an excellent choice as a possible AFC East champion future bet after everything that they accomplished this season. With the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins both showing nothing that would make them project to be a contender for next year, and the New York Jets really struggling toward the end of the year, the Patriots could be poised to take another step forward with four picks in the first two rounds of next year’s draft and some free agent spending money as well. New England came within inches of a Super Bowl win this year, and should be one of the better sports betting future options available. It will be difficult to break down the pay head odds for teams like the Indianapolis Colts or Arizona Cardinals with so much still left to play out for their respective offseasons, but in situations like New England where everything is point in a positive direction and they have already established themselves as contenders, it makes sense to take advantage of the early lines as it would take a lot to knock them out of their spot.

NFL Betting: Some Tips on Parlays

The people who are looking to make a profit with an online sportsbook will often avoid NFL parlays. A parlay is a series of two or more bets against the spread grouped together. If you lose just one game against the spread, then you lost the entire parlay. The novice bettors like parlays because the odds increase with the more games that are picked. But price per head bookie experts often stay away from parlays because they do not feel the odds are in their favor. There is a simple system to use if you want to bet parlays and make more money doing so. You can keep your betting amounts low to see if the system works and then up the amounts if you are seeing success.

The system for picking parlays is pretty simple. You should keep track of how each team performs against the spread and only bet teams in a parlay that are favored and beat the spread 60 percent of the time. As you can imagine, this will significantly limit your choices. But if you are trying to beat the odds in a parlay, then you want to narrow down your choices to be sure that you are only picking teams that have a legitimate shot at winning.

When it comes to Super Bowl odds, many serious bettors have systems in place to help them pick a winning team. But parlays are often shunned by those that bet for profit. Before you dismiss parlays completely, try this system and see if it improves your chances of winning. You may find that playing parlays becomes a lot easier when you get the numbers to work in your favor.

Super Bowl Betting – Patriots, Giants Super Bowl Not About Revenge

The New York Giants arrived in Indianapolis on Monday, one day after the New England Patriots made the trip, and with Super Bowl week officially underway, the anticipation among the fans is continuing to build. The endless list of prop bets in and around the game has already been released, while the Patriots remain the early favorites ranging from minus-2.5 to minus-3.5 depending on which site listed on the sportsbook review it is. The Giants and Patriots players won’t be paying any attention to those things once they finally arrive at Super Bowl 46, and according to the coaches, neither will be paying attention to the past as well.

Super Bowl 46

New York Giants vs. New England Patriots

Sunday February 5, 2012 – 6:30 PM ET

Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana

Both coaches talked on Monday about the importance to keep the focus on Sunday’s game, and it was clear that neither one will play that down. Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick, who had his team in full pads on Monday, explained that most of the team that lost in the last Super Bowl meeting between these sides have moved on, and that these are two different teams. Giants’ head coach Tom Coughlin reiterated that outlook, and talked about how both teams have proved they can win big games, and play their best football when it matters the most. Many sports betting fans were surprised to see that New England was listed as favorites according to the pay head bookies after beating just one team with a record better than .500 all year, with that victory only coming in the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens. However, the Patriots have played their best football as the year has gone on, and could be ready to peak against a Giants’ team that has taken two of the last three in this series dating back to Super Bowl 42.

Super Bowl XLVI Preview

The Super Bowl betting for the 2011 season will put the New York Giants against the New England Patriots. The Patriots enter this game as -3 favorites, but there are several elements that bettors should take into account before using the pay per head sportsbook betting line as the main indicator of who could win this game.

New York Giants

The New York Giants beat a good Atlanta Falcons team in the wild card round, completely surprised the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round and then stunned the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. That is the kind of momentum that most playoff teams dream of but yet few have ever been able to accomplish. The Giants use its battering-ram style of defense to keep the opposing offense under wraps. But New York will need to use strategy if it wants to keep the Patriots’ wide receivers and tight ends under control.

New England Patriots

The Patriots entered the playoffs with the 31st ranked defense in the league, but the New England defense has not played like it is one of the worst in the league in the playoffs. The NFL scores posted by the Patriots in the playoffs had a lot to do with how well the defense played. However, the Patriots’ defense has not come up against an offense like New York’s yet in the playoffs. The Giants have a lot of ways to beat a team and the New England defense may have to rely on points scored by the New England offense to win this game.

The Bottom Line

The Patriots beat the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game for a lot of reasons. One of those reasons was questionable decisions made by Ravens’ head coach John Harbaugh such as going for it on fourth down instead of kicking a field goal and then not taking a timeout late in the game and giving his field goal unit time to get itself settled. The Giants do not make those errors and this will be a very interesting Super Bowl to watch.
