NFL – Pro Bowl Preview While most people are thinking about the Super Bowl odds this week, there is still the business of the AFC – NFC Pro Bowl to attend to. The Pro Bowl is always interesting to pick because you never know who will be playing in it almost until the last minute. This can make bookmaker odds a bit dicey. The AFC are two point favorites to win the game, and the over/under is 57. The Pro Bowl is always akin to a touch football scoring affair where the conference with the best offense usually wins. The players on the field are usually laughing just as much as the players on the sidelines and the intensity on defense is not there. That makes for a tempting pick on the over. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees have been named the starting quarterbacks for the Pro Bowl, but that was only ceremonial. The game will feature Texans QB Matt Schaub throwing to Texans WR Andre Johnson for the AFC, and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers throwing to Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson for the NFC. There will be points, and there will be a lot of yards. Look for Tennessee RB Chris Johnson to score at least one TD, and don’t be surprised if Ochocinco finds himself doing the hat dance in South Florida as well. What will the outcome be? A good Northbet.com bet is to go over on the over/under. Considering that the AFC has been able to retain significantly more offensive talent for this game than the NFC, this will be a blow-out for the AFC. Some things to watch are for Chris Johnson to run all over the NFC defense, Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson to show why the Texans will make the playoffs next year and Aaron Rodgers to finally get that ounce of respect from the rest of the football world that he so desperately deserves. Pick: AFC wins 45-27 |
