2010 AFC Predictions: Colts, Chargers Still Locks In AFC

Despite the relative parity of the NFL betting league, the AFC has had four kings over the past few years that have consistently found a way to be in the playoff picture come December. The Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers have combined for five of the ten Super Bowl championship teams over the past decade, and have consistently made their presence felt at or near the top of their respective divisions. Change may finally be breaking through in the AFC this year however, as the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets appear poised to challenge both the Steelers and Patriots for respectively for division supremacy, with Baltimore already at that point after clinching the AFC Northbet a year ago.

Peyton Manning and his Colts, and Phillip Rivers and his Chargers have been the two untouchables in the AFC, and are poised to make another run again this year. While a quicker betting start could have had the Tennessee Titans in a better position come December, and the Houston Texans finally got over the .500 hump, neither team appears ready to take down mighty Indianapolis. The same can be said about San Diego, which resides in the same division as the lowly Oakland Raiders, the rebuilding Kansas City Chiefs, and a Denver Broncos team that tailed off late last year and may be at least another year away from competing. While the Colts and Chargers should be division locks, look for the Jets and Ravens to solidify the top spots in the AFC East and North respectively, with the Patriots, Steelers, Titans, and Texans all competing for a Wild Card spot.
