The Cincinnati Bengals have shocked fans sports betting online against them over the last couple of weeks. In a season that could be considered another forgettable one, the Bengals have proven too many of their remaining fans, that they don't need two overzealous football betting wide receivers to win football games. While many critics of the Bengals speculate that the team will rebuild this off season, Sunday's win against the San Diego Chargers by a blow out of 14 points, essentially proved to all of us that the Bengals of 2009 are still around.
This past Sunday's second win in a row and fourth on the season for the Cincinnati Bengals had fans across the league jumping for joy, as the team dashed the hopes of the San Diego Chargers. Recall, over the last few years, no team had been better than the Chargers in the month of December, as the team had gone undefeated since December of 2008. The Chargers ability to win in the month of December came as annoyance for many teams in the AFC, as the team always appeared to take the first two months off before finally going into the playoffs on a December surge.
However, this time, the lowly Cincinnati Bengals sporting one of the league's toughest schedules, were able to walk away with the 34 - 20 win. The win marked a changing of the guard for the Bengals, as the team was without overzealous wide receivers Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco, who were both out with injury.
Instead, quarterback Carson Palmer threw to reserve wide receivers Jerome Simpson and Andre Caldwell. The play of the Bengals youth showed that the team doesn't need to rebuild, but rather go back to a run offense with the occasional pass. This season, the Bengals disappointed fans hoping for consecutive playoff years, as the offense switched from a run to a pass oriented one. With Ochocinco and Owens sucking the life out of the offense, the team struggled and lost 10 consecutive games. However with both players out of the lineup, the team has won its last two games. Maybe they just need to get rid of their overzealous wide receivers in order to win.
NFL betting players are seeing the end of the finish line for the regular season, and here are some early picks for Week 16, which kicks off on Thursday.
Jets Bears Betting - Sunday, 1:00 PM ET
The Jets will likely be the underdogs in Chicago this week after winning at Pittsburgh, and the Bears are at a disadvantage because they have a short week, and they have to play outside in Minnesota on Monday night on a frozen field, which could cause an injury or two.
NFL Picks: New York Jets
49ers Rams Betting - Sunday, 1:00 PM ET
The Rams are favored by 2.5 points at home, where they are 1-4 SU and ATS against the 49ers, who are just one game behind St. Louis in the NFC West. How will the young Rams handle being chased? We think San Francisco will pull this one out.
NFL Picks: San Francisco +2.5
Giants Packers Betting - Sunday, 4:15 PM ET
The NFL betting line for this game won't be out until Aaron Rodgers' status is revealed, but the Packers still put up a good fight in New England and probably should have won. The Giants, meanwhile, are trying to get over losing a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter at home to Philadelphia, and then lost on a punt return. Can they get over that?
NFL Picks: Green Bay
Saints Falcons Betting - Monday, 8:30 PM ET
The Falcons are 2.5-point favorites at home, where they are 6-0 this year, and Matt Ryan is 19-1 as a starter. However, the Saints are playing as well as anyone in the league, even after a loss in Baltimore. The Falcons are looking to clinch the division, but should betting players trust them with the pressure?
NFL Picks: New Orleans +2.5
Some NFL betting lines for Week 15 aren't out yet as it is only early, and some injuries have to be considered, but that doesn't mean the matchups are any less important
Saints Ravens Betting - Sunday, 1:00 PM ET
After Monday's trip to Houston, the Ravens should be favored at home, but not by much against the Saints, who are gaining steam and starting to peak. The Ravens are 4-2 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last six against New Orleans at home, but the Saints' offense is clicking.
NFL Picks: New Orleans Saints
Eagles Giants Betting - Sunday, 1:00 PM ET
The Giants also play Monday night after their trip to Minnesota was cancelled because of a collapsed dome, and they'll be in Detroit to face the Vikings then. That means they're on a short week against the Eagles, who looked good once again in a win at Dallas on Sunday night. We're taking Michael Vick and company with more rest and preparation.
NFL Picks: Philadelphia Eagles
Jaguars Colts Betting - Sunday, 1:00 PM ET
The Colts are 4.5-point favorites in this AFC South showdown, and while we think they'll claim the win over Jacksonville, who have just two wins in nine trips to Indy, we're taking the Jaguars ATS as they're 6-3 ATS over that time.
NFL Picks: Jacksonville Jaguars +4.5
Jets Steelers Betting - Sunday, 8:20 PM ET
The Steelers are favored by six points in this battle of top-five defenses, but we're giving the nod to Pittsburgh, who are at home, and we have no faith in the New York offense, which hasn't scored a touchdown in two games, and that makes it tough to lay a sports bet on them.
NFL Picks: Pittsburgh Steelers -6
Those waiting to make an NFL bet only have to wait until Thursday, when Indianapolis and Tennessee begin the Week 14 slate, and that is one of four games to keep your eye on this week.
Colts Titans Betting - Thursday, 8:20 PM ET
The Colts are favored by 2.5 points in Tennessee, but they'll need Peyton Manning to cut down on the interceptions as he has 11 in his last three games. It's a good thing the Colts are meeting a Tennessee team that seems to be falling apart.
NFL Picks: Indy -2.5
Patriots Bears Betting - Thursday, 4:15 PM ET
The Bears will likely be favored at home as the Patriots are on a short week after their Monday night meeting with the Jets, and Chicago is also riding a five-game winning streak. They should be able to edge the Patriots at Soldier Field.
NFL Picks: Chicago
Chiefs Chargers Betting - Sunday, 4:15 PM ET
This could be the game of the week as the Chargers are favored by a touchdown at home in this AFC West clash, trailing the Chiefs by two games in the division. The Chargers lost their first December game in five years last week, and while they may get the win, the Chiefs will keep it close.
NFL Picks: Kansas City +7
Eagles Cowboys Betting - Sunday, 8:20 PM ET
In another divisional rivalry, the Eagles are favored by a field goal at Dallas, but the Cowboys are playing like a relaxed team with nothing to lose (and a team and coach that are trying to secure jobs for next year). That's why you take the Cowboys this week when doing your NFL betting online.
NFL Picks: Dallas +3
